Major Research Areas
1. Bioelectronics & Semiconductor Devices
We design and optimize extended-gate field-effect transistors (EGFETs) integrated with nanomaterials (e.g., nickel nanowires, graphene films, copper oxide, gold-decorated zinc oxide) for advanced biomedical sensing applications.
2. Optical & Electrochemical Sensing
Our research focuses on light-based and electrochemical detection strategies, utilizing electric double-layer modulation to achieve sensitive and selective detection of glucose, cardiac biomarkers, and cancer-related molecules.
3. Smart Biosensing with AI & IoT
We integrate biosensors with artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to build portable and wearable diagnostic systems for real-time monitoring and personalized healthcare.
Research Summary
Our research at the Bioelectronics Laboratory focuses on developing next-generation biosensing platforms that integrate nanotechnology, electrochemistry, and semiconductor devices. By leveraging extended-gate field-effect transistors (EGFETs) and electric double-layer modulation, we design highly sensitive and selective detection systems for a wide range of biomedical targets, including glucose, cardiac biomarkers such as Troponin I, and cancer-related molecules such as PSA, exosomes, and microRNAs.
We further explore Debye length engineering, ionic strength modulation, and signal amplification strategies to push the boundaries of sensitivity and reproducibility. In addition, we integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to enable portable, wearable, and real-time diagnostic systems. Our ultimate goal is to establish universal FET-based sensing platforms that can advance early disease detection and transform healthcare monitoring from clinical settings to everyday life.
